Born & raised in Virginia, Somica Spratley is a makeup artist and filmmaker now residing in Birmingham, Alabama. From an early age, Somica was influenced by unconventional styles of art. She went on to further her education in specialty makeup effects and film/media production. Between 2010 and 2014, she also trained with the Aveda Institute, MAC Cosmetics and Ryder Makeup Labs. Her creative contributions range from local productions to being the former beauty editor of Prysm Magazine and to making her directorial debut with her short film "Altschmerz". It screened at the Sidewalk Film Festival, Ax Wound Film Festival and Stormy Weather Horror Festival, where it received 3 nominations, winning best editing. In September 2017, Somica received acceptance into the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 798 Union. She continues to pursue ambitious professional goals in both makeup artistry and filmmaking.
